Petrified Wood Sphere Orb Globe – 65–70mm is a substantial polished natural fossilized wood sphere measuring approximately 2.6–2.75 inches in diameter. Larger than our smaller Petrified Wood spheres, this size makes the natural patterns, mineral variations, and preserved wood structures especially noticeable. Expect earthy shades of brown, tan, cream, gray, rust, black, and reddish tones, with every sphere displaying its own combination of wood grain, growth structures, mineral markings, and patterns created during fossilization.
Petrified Wood corresponds primarily with the Root Chakra and is associated with grounding, stability, patience, strength, security, resilience, and connection with the Earth. It's an excellent stone to reach for when life feels chaotic, you're navigating significant change, or you need to stop reacting to everything immediately and think about what will actually serve you long-term.
Emotionally, Petrified Wood encourages patience and consistency. Its entire existence is a lesson in transformation that happens gradually rather than overnight, making it especially meaningful when you're building a business, changing habits, working through a personal transition, creating greater financial stability, or developing something that requires time and persistence.
It can also be incorporated into grounding practices when you're feeling scattered, overwhelmed, or mentally living three weeks into the future. Hold the sphere during meditation, keep it on your desk while working, or place it in a room where you want to encourage a more stable, grounded atmosphere.
The sphere shape radiates energy evenly in all directions and symbolizes wholeness, unity, balance, and completion. Combined with Petrified Wood's deeply grounding symbolism, this makes the sphere especially suitable for shared spaces, offices, meditation areas, living rooms, or anywhere you want grounded energy distributed throughout the surrounding area.
Scientifically, Petrified Wood forms when buried plant material undergoes mineralization. Mineral-rich water moves through the material, allowing minerals to replace or fill the original cellular structures over immense periods of time. Silica minerals, including forms of quartz, commonly play a major role in this process. The exact minerals, geological age, tree species, and origin vary between specimens and cannot be determined from appearance alone.
One of the most fascinating characteristics of Petrified Wood is that mineralization can preserve structures from the original plant even though the material itself has become stone. Depending on the specimen, you may see recognizable wood grain, growth patterns, cellular-looking structures, or colorful mineral formations that tell part of its geological story.
Because these are natural Petrified Wood spheres, each one will vary significantly in color, pattern, wood-grain visibility, mineralization, markings, inclusions, and overall appearance. Some pieces may clearly resemble wood, while others display more abstract mineral patterns. No two spheres will ever be exactly alike.
Each Petrified Wood Sphere is ethically sourced and includes an informational card explaining the properties and uses of Petrified Wood.
If you're frustrated because you've been working toward something for six weeks and the Universe has apparently failed to respect your preferred timeline, Petrified Wood offers some perspective. This transformation took a little longer than your five-year plan. Keep this larger sphere somewhere visible when you need to remember that lasting things take time—and slow doesn't mean you're stuck.
